welcome home

Well, that was brief. Google+ was totally perfect... except for the bullshit "real name" campaign that left out the marginalized and blocked identity experimentation. Fuck that. Shabby and broken as it is, I guess this is home again. I hate feeling dispossessed. Anyways, if you're just adding me from Google+, please comment. I enjoyed meeting lots of cool people there, I hope we can stay friends in venues without such asinine problems.

Edit: If you're interested, there is a pretty good discussion about this on G+. I am genuinely sad to see it go, because I had a lot of good discussions there. Sigh. "Ignominious uselessness" indeed. https://plus.google.com/103312810027078945406?tab=h#103312810027078945406/posts/Dc9MtB3Wc84

Hello! I can't remember to what degree we've been introduced, but I am friends with Liz Fong, and I am a former Googler (the names policy having been more or less the last straw for me.) Livejournal has been my home for quite awhile, to the extent that I have a single home on the 'net at all. (My real home is nerdnet.org, my vanity domain and my own server, a machine in my own house. ;-)

I wonder how many Googlers have or will leave over this issue. Sadly, I suspect the answer is, "not enough to make a difference."

Liz Fong is a great example of someone I met on G+ who seems really awesome. We have added each other on Twitter for whatever good that does, I hope we stay in touch.

Nice to meet you! I see you're moving to the bay area, so perhaps we can meet up some time. :}
